The health and safety of our patients, colleagues and partners are the top priority for Fresenius Medical Care. As a health care provider, we are aware of the responsibility that we have – in general, but especially in times we are currently facing. We take this very seriously and are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that our practices are sufficient. As we take care of some of health care’s most vulnerable patients, we are keeping a close eye on this situation. We have reinforced the infection control practices that are already in place in order to protect our patients. We are in close contact with the local authorities and follow their guidance. Furthermore, we have created task forces to review our response as the situation develops.
We implemented precaution plans regarding COVID-19 in our dialysis centers and are in an ongoing dialogue with the country teams and authorities where we operate. As our patients depend on our services, we have taken far-reaching precautions and have contingency plans that ensure our patients can be confident they will receive the care as needed. We also do everything we can to maintain the production and distribution of our products so that our patients receive everything they need for their life-sustaining treatment.
In addition, we have taken precautions for our employees. Our clinical staff is trained in infection control practices. Beyond that, we have developed contingency plans for our facilities in case the situation deteriorates. In affected areas we support our colleagues to work from home wherever it is possible. Moreover, we have issued travel restrictions and no larger group meetings or conferences are taking place within our organization. Previously planned events have either been postponed or will be held as virtual meetings.
As one of the world’s leading health care providers, we are committed to do our part to protect the health of our patients, our employees and our society.
